The hotel is located in the city centre, only a few minutes’ walk from Cologne Cathedral, the old town centre and the Rhine river. It is also conveniently located for direct access to the motorways, the international airport and the exibition centre. "Severinstrasse" tram station is right next door to the hotel and from there lines 3, 4 and 14 go directly to the fair ground. The journey takes about five minutes.

The Mercure Severinshof Hotel is housed in a modern red brick building. The exterior is quite austere and industrial. The bright, welcoming lobby is appointed in an open-plan style, with the bar and restaurant adjacent. The 253 good sized guestrooms are attractively decorated in pale tones, which contrast pleasingly with the darker curtains. The rooms on the lower floors feature light grey wooden furniture, while those on the upper floors have dark wooden furniture. Boasting plenty of daylight thanks to the large windows, the Veedelity Restaurant serves international cuisine. Plenty of greenery, as well as light wood fittings, create a pleasant environment. For drinks and light snacks there’s also Vedel’s Pub, open from 3.00pm until 1.00am.
