The Express by Holiday Inn Cologne-Muelheim Hotel is a brand new, purpose-built property with a yellow façade. The medium sized lobby features a seating area opposite the reception desk, a bar on the far side and leads onto the breakfast room. Also medium sized, the 107 guestrooms are functionally appointed, yet also brightly decorated in a pleasing contemporary style. They are also clean and well maintained, as are the en suite bathrooms. A Continental buffet breakfast is available every morning in the breakfast room, where beige furniture and blue and red carpets combine to create a welcoming ambience. There are also several restaurants nearby, including Gilden Brauhaus, a traditional beer tavern, Bei Marco, a steakhouse, and Meviana, one of Cologne’s favourite Turkish restaurants. This hotel is a perfect accommodation for the budget traveller, being simple, but clean and well priced.
