The NH Mediapark Hotel is a deluxe property, housed in an imposing steel and glass building, which dates from the 1990s, when the surrounding area was developed as a "Media Park," but is none the less still futuristic-looking. The medium sized lobby features a classic Italian design - as befits the fact that Cologne is often referred to as "the northernmost Italian city." It boasts several seating areas, where the grey and orange furnishings create and stylish yet warm ambience. Also medium sized, the 213 guestrooms once again feature Italianate décor, with colourful curtains and carpets, which contrast pleasingly with the plain walls, Tuscan-style beds and light brown furniture. All are clean and impeccably maintained, as are the en suite bathrooms. At the hotel’s Ristorante Concerto guests can indulge in the culinary delicacies of Italian cuisine while taking in the magnificent view of the lake and green areas. The extensive menu offers such delights as baked apple filled with mascarpone-broccoli mousse, duck à l’orange or veal with courgette, pepper and parmesan strips in a cream of leek sauce. With its unobtrusive background music, regular live music, excellent selection of beers, cocktails and light snacks, the lobby bar offers the perfect environment in which to meet people from morning until late night.
