One of the most avant-garde and daring reincarnations of an existing structure in all of Germany, the Im Wasserturm Hotel is housed in an 11-storey, 130-year-old listed water tower. The lobby is 11 metres high and features exposed brick, a tiled floor, an elevated bridge and connecting walkways. The hotel's 88 guestrooms come in unusual configurations, but each is cleverly designed for comfort, flair, and convenience. They feature stylish décor inspired by circles and curves, with bright hardwoods, sintered glass, and stone touches. The bathrooms are deluxe, tiled in mosaics and containing such extras as triptych mirrors, robes, and deep tubs with power showers. In the Michelin-starred “La Vision” restaurant on the 11th floor, the “kitchen with the best outlook in Cologne”, chef de cuisine Hendrik Otto creates imaginative yet classical French gourmet cuisine with Mediterranean influences, all set against the backdrop of the amazing view from the roof terrace. Alternatively, “dublju” offers light seasonal dishes in a bright setting decorated with black and gold detail, while Harry's Lounge is a gentlemen's-style bar which serves drinks and snacks during the evening.
