Established in 1863, the Excelsior Hotel Ernst Hotel is a traditional, luxury property, its attractive neo-classical/art deco frontage adorned with distinctive fluted pillasters. The canopied entrance leads onto a splendid hall, decorated in pale blue tones, with a chandelier and large mirrors. The public areas contain old-master paintings, including an original work by Van Dyck. Each of the 152 guestrooms and suites have been decorated individually and appointed with rich fabrics, paintings and precious antiquities. All are immaculately clean and well maintained, as are the en suite bathrooms. The hotel’s Hanse Stube restaurant has very impressive dark wood ceiling and panelling and serves traditional European-style food. There is also a patio section for when the weather is fine. The intimate and yet popular Piano Bar has a warm and inviting atmosphere, offering the perfect combination of class and style, with elegant wooden panelling and cosy armchairs. It offers drinks and light meals throughout the day. The welcoming breakfast room features a Gobelin tapestry.
